THE MAGADHAN EMPIRE-
HARYANKAS:-
· The first dynasty ever ruled Magadha was
Haryanka dynasty.
· Bimbisara was the founder of this dynasty. His capital was
situated at Rajgir.
·
Bimbisara
started matrimonial alliances to strengthen his power.
·
He
had three wives. His first wife was the daughter of king of koshala . His
second wife Chellana was a Lichchhavi princess who gave birth to Ajatashatru.
His third wife was the daughter of the chief of Madra clan of Punjab.
· Ajatashatru patronised the First Buddhist Council.
SHISHUNAGAS:-

Shishunaga
founded the Shishunaga dynasty who ruled from
Vaishali.
·
Kalashoka,
was the son of
Shishunaga. He patronised Second Buddhist Council.
NANDAS
· The Shishunaga were succeeded by the Nandas, who
proved to be the most powerful rulers of Magadha.
· Mahapadma Nanda founded the Nanda dynasty. He captured whole of
north India.
Dhanananda was the last king of
Nanda dynasty. He was the king when Alexander attacked India in 327/326 BC
